This Webinar reconnects tutors with their original sense of purpose in serving students and making a difference for their students both personally and academically. All too often we become cynical when it comes to the stories that students tell and situations in which they place themselves. The tutor is called upon to be the “Hero,” with the student expecting the tutor to assuage the situation and somehow ensure that the student passes the paper, exam, or class. The reality is that we get tired! It may become difficult to invest that extra part of ourselves needed to help our student succeed. As we know, often academic knowledge is just not enough. Tutors are people of generous spirits and big hearts. We want to help and we want our students to become confident, independent learners. The facilitator combines a combination of research, exercises, and personal insight to model techniques and strategies in this unique professional development workshop.
