Individuals seeking certification as Academic Coaches must follow the instructions and procedures outlined specifically for this certification found below. Each level of certification requires a minimum number of structured training hours supervised by an NTA certified academic coach trainer or supervisor. Training as an Academic Coach may be delivered by a Certified NTA Master Trainer or by any institution where an NTA Certified Tutor Trainer/Academic Coach is on staff, or by taking the pre-recorded Academic Coaching Webinar courses offered by the NTA.
BASIC ACADEMIC COACHING CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Current NTA Membership in good standing
- Associate’s Degree preferred or in substantial progress
- Minimum of ten documented hours of academic coaching
- Adhere to the NTA's Academic Coach Code of Ethics
- Competency proven through the following:
- Successful completion of Learning Preferences Webinar.
- Successful completion of Basic Academic Coaching Webinar.
- Completion of NTA Certified Tutor Training can be via in-school training, NTA regional or national workshop/conference, or by live or recorded webinars.
ADVANCED ACADEMIC COACHING CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Current NTA Membership in good standing
- Bachelor’s Degree Required
- Minimum of thirty-five documented hours of academic coaching
- Adhere to the NTA's Academic Coach Code of Ethics
- Competency proven through the following:
- Successful completion of Learning Preferences Webinar.
- Successful completion of Basic Academic Coaching Webinar.
- Successful completion of Advanced Academic Coaching Webinar.
- Completion of NTA Certified Tutor Training can be via in-school training, NTA regional or national workshop/conference, or by live or recorded webinars.
